I see support for LGBT rights as simple self preservation. They are us and their rights are our rights. If I say “Oh those people don’t matter, then someone else can say I don’t matter. We can only be free if everyone is free, otherwise we are all just slaves waiting for the shackles.

This is the kind of attitude I would like to see become the majority view. Unfortunately I think we’re still pretty far off from that in the US.
